The fallout from the disastrously chippy Monday Night game between the Bengals and Steelers got a little less bad for the Bengals today.
While Steelers WR JuJu Smith-Schuster will not have his suspension heard in an appeal after the league announced it will be upheld, the Bengals had some luck on the suspension front.
Safety George Iloka won the appeal of his one-game suspension and will not miss any time, according to reports.
Iloka was initially suspended for this vicious hit on Steelers star wideout Antonio Brown, which was just one of many dangerous hits in this bloodbath of a game.
Iloka’s suspension was overturned by appeals officer Derrick Brooks, the Hall of Fame linebacker for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Iloka will still have to pay a pretty penny, though.
What a weirdly specific fine. Those extra 50 cents are really gonna put a dent in the overhead.
All in all, it’s best if the Bengals and Steelers — and all of us — put this game behind us, once we know about Ryan Shazier’s health, of course.
