Celebrities are also normal people like us and they also feel the pain as we do when someone close to them leaves this world. Matthew McConaughey also felt the pain when he heard about the death of his co-star Sam Shepard, an American playwright, actor, author, director, and screenwriter.
Sam, a handsome personality, could have easily managed a breakthrough in movies but was reluctant to become a movie star. Instead, he focused his attention on creating plays that put forward the darker side of the American Family Life.
He owned 10 Obie awards for writing and directing which was more than any other person in his field.
Sam was focused towards exploring the idea of tradition and his work was a masterpiece that had a critical take on the American culture.
While many directors and writers focused on making blockbuster movies which could earn them a huge potential, Sam was inclined towards American Culture, the disillusionment of the American Dream and also relationships between the past, present, and future.
Sam was 73 when he took his last breath at his home in Kentucky on July 27. He died from the complications due to a motor neuron disease called ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease). His death was however announced to the world on July 31.
He left behind his children, Jesse, Hannah, and Walker Shepard; and his sisters, Sandy and Roxanne Rogers.
Matthew who worked with Sam in the 2012 film ‘Mud’ was on the red carpet at the premiere of Dark Tower when a journalist informed him about Sam’s death. His shocking reaction made everyone realize how much he truly cared.
“Sam Shepard moved on?” Matthew asked the reporter who broke the news. He was seen trying to process the fact that Sam passed away.
While the interview was over, Matthew was seen pointing toward the sky, giving thumbs up and mentioning that they lost one of the great writer and a great mind.
The video below shows Matthew’s response and reaction to the sad news.
